A road improvement scheme is to be carried out on the route between Brandesburton and North Frodingham, on a popular route to Driffield.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £700,000 to upgrade the rural road and footpaths, with work starting on Monday 2 September and lasting for up to four weeks.

The scheme will include resurfacing, patching work and strengthening the edges of the road.

Some kerbing work will also take place at the North Frodingham end.

During the scheme, the road will be closed to all through-traffic, with diversions put in place.

Traffic will be diverted via B1249 Main Street, B1249 Bridlington Balk, B1249 North Frodingham Road, B1249 Main Street, A165 Beverley Road, A165 Bridlington Road. A165 Brandesburton Roundabout, New Road, Main Street and Mill Lane.

Local access to properties will be kept for residents and businesses, and for the emergency services, deliveries, post and waste collections.

The work will be carried out by the council’s own road maintenance team.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “This is another investment by East Riding of Yorkshire Council to make improvements to a road that needs this work.

“Thank you to local residents and drivers who use this route for bearing with us until the scheme is complete.”
