Parents and carers of children due to start infant, junior and primary school schools in September this year have this week found out which school their child has been allocated.  Letters and emails sent out yesterday by East Riding Council revealed that 95.9 per cent of all pupils were allocated their first preference, down slightly on last year.  98.9 per cent were allocated a place at one of their three choices, meaning only 32 children were offered places elsewhere. Beverley’s East Riding Theatre has announced the return of its theatre summer schools, with separate week-long sessions for two age groups. The first, from August 8 -13, is for 11 to 13-year-olds and, at the end of the week, those taking part will present a showcase performance, including elements of song and dance.
