Beverley Town Council has agreed to pay £17,000 to settle an outstanding gas bill. It had emerged last November that because of an oversight the council had been using but not paying for gas at its Well Lane offices, stretching back to 2004. Beverley residents suffering vandalism and anti-social behaviour from groups of youths have got together to set up their own Neighbourhood Watch group. The new group covers the areas of Grovehill Road, Cherry Tree Lane, St Nicholas, Priory Road and Chantry Lane.  Stones have been thrown at windows and front doors and local parkland has been vandalised. The award-winning Beverley Puppet Festival is seeking volunteers for this July's event, the first since 2018.
