Former Beverley Rugby Union Club player Philip Dale, who went on to found the London-based property and asset management company Regency Real Estate, has been announced as the club’s first £10,000 membership supporter, backing efforts to raise £600,000 for the redevelopment of the club’s Beaver Park ground.

The club had already raised £100,000 towards its target when it unveiled the plans for a new clubhouse and car park at the end of last year. Subsequently, support packages for commercial sponsors, businesses, donors and organisations were launched and now Mr Dale’s company has become the first to confirm a major injection of funds.

Club chairman Brian Gilbert said: “Phil is an ex-player, and a committed supporter of the club through his business. This is the first of many business packages we hope to sell.” And Phil, who founded Regency Real Estate in 2019 and who now lives in Suffolk, commented: “We are very happy to support Beverley RUFC and its ambitions to upgrade the facilities to support youth and senior rugby at Beaver Park for decades to come.”

Beverley fire crew, along with paramedics attended an incident in North Bar Within on Saturday morning, after a car hit the front of Cafe Velo, causing minor damage. Fire service personnel cordoned off the area and cleared glass and debris from the road, while the driver received medical attention.

And finally, Beverley Athletic Club turned their recent Wednesday night club run into a fund-raising “Run For Ukraine”, raising just over £1,000 for the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal. Club runners were joined by guests from Barton and District Athletic Club and a group from the West Hull Ladies Club.
