BEVERLEY Pasture Masters have this week issued an appeal to drivers to take care and observe speed limits on The Westwood following the latest incident in which a cow was hit and subsequently died. The incident was described as a “hit and run”.

A spokesperson said: “The Beverley Pasture Masters would like to say to drivers that they should take care whilst travelling over The Westwood, adhere to the speed limit of 40 mph and be aware that cows could cross at any time so they may need to go slower than the speed limit. The cows are on the Westwood between April and December each year.”

HUMBERSIDE Police have been alerted to ongoing problems at the derelict Minster Towers site on Lord Roberts Road and say they are concerned for the safety of youths congregating there. They say youths have been trespassing, getting into the buildings, including climbing on the roof. Community officers told Beverley FM the site was full of hidden dangers, including the presence of asbestos.

THERE are more chances next week to enjoy tours of the popular exhibition at Beverley Treasure House, “Birds, Books and Belfries”, which explores the remarkable life and work of a 19th century East Yorkshire vicar, wildlife campaigner and writer. The free tours will take place on Wednesday September 7, from 2 – 2.30pm, and Friday September 9 from 10.30 – 11am, and will be led by Treasure House curator Sally Hayes. More details here
