THE PROGRAMME for next month’s Walking East Yorkshire Festival has been published, with a packed schedule of events between Saturday the 10th and Friday the 23rd of September. On the opening day, for instance, there are two guided walks around Beverley – one called “The Feminist and the Philosopher” exploring the life of the famous Beverley feminist Mary Wollstonecraft and the other celebrating the town’s green landscape.

The “Quiet Gardens of Beverley” explores 10 very different gardens while The Westwood stages a workshop on the increasingly popular past-time of Nordic Walking. There’s also a chance for a wine tasting and tour of the award-winning Laurel Vines vineyard at Aike, between Beverley and Driffield. The full programme can be viewed at walkingeastyorkshirefestival.co.uk and clicking on the 2022 brochure tab.

THE NEW Deputy Principal and Deputy Chief Executive of Bishop Burton College says she feels privileged to be joining, and can’t wait to make the most of the exciting opportunities ahead. Kirsti Lord (pictured) joined the college this week and says she’s been overwhelmed by the positive welcome she’s already had from staff and students.

Kirsti has been Deputy Chief Executive at the Association of Colleges for the last five years. She told us: “There are undoubtedly exciting times ahead of us and I’m so pleased to be here.”

EAST RIDING Council is seeking the public’s views on its draft Climate Change Strategy. A spokesperson said by taking part in a survey it will help “create a document that truly reflects the views of residents on climate change across the authority area”. You can take part in the survey here
