PLANS to transform the Treasure House into a Beverley Hub at a cost of £3 million and see existing East Riding Council services all under one roof, are to go on display for the public to have their say. The Hub will include a new customer service centre and enhanced library while the council’s registration services will relocate from Walkergate House. 

Plans for landscaping Champney Gardens will also be on display at the drop-in event  at the Treasure House next Tuesday, August 23, between 10am and 6pm.

HUMBERSIDE Police officers are to take part in a national campaign over the next few weeks, focusing on drink and drug drivers. Officers will be out across the region, stopping drivers suspected of driving under the influence and conducting regular roadside tests. Sgt Paul Long told Beverley FM: “This campaign is focused on educating people about the dangers of driving under the influence and enforcing traffic legislation to prosecute offenders.”

He continued: “We are asking for people to call 101 to report any people suspected of driving under the influence or call 999 if a crime is currently taking place.”

BEVERLEY actor Richard Avery has accepted an invitation to be the MC for next week’s charity golf day, organised by Beverley Building Society in aid of the society’s charity, the Beverley Cherry Tree Centre. The event  has attracted a capacity 24 teams and takes place on Friday August 26 at Hessle Golf Club.
