BEVERLEY is to benefit from an injection of £91,000 from the Home Office Safer Streets Fund to continue an initiative aimed at combatting anti-social behaviour and other issues in the Flemingate and Grovehill areas of the town. Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner Jonathan Evison said he’d worked with East Riding Council to secure the funding.

A council spokesperson told Beverley FM the cash “will support the Beverley Youth Partnership to continue their work around delivering a variety of inclusive and participatory activities and events for young people in the area over the coming two years.”

EAST RIDING councillor Jane Evison wants the authority to create Ambassadors working within schools to help promote job opportunities to pupils. At tomorrow’s full council meeting she will stress the importance of good careers advice being delivered within schools, starting as early as primary school. She told Beverley FM: “We need to listen to what young people have to say and give them support to receive careers advice in a way it will be of most use to them.”

A NEW exhibition in the Red Gallery in Beverley Art Gallery, has allowed students from two special schools in the East Riding to work alongside Wolds artist Penny Barron. The exhibition features artwork by Penny, and by students from St Anne’s Special School and Kings Mill Special School. They all used David Hockney’s famous Wolds artwork as an influence, and each student developed a single canvas. All those have now been brought together. More information here
