Another 2,098 cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the East Riding in the week ending last Thursday – that’s according to the latest figures just released by the Government. It brings the total number of cases in the East Riding to 93,423 since the pandemic began.

The latest rolling figures, updated yesterday, show the case rate per 100,000 people across the region was 365.5 for Hull and 485.1 in the East Riding. A total of 161 people are currently being treated in local hospitals, according to the latest NHS figures.

And because of Covid-19 related issues, the Mayor of Beverley’s Civic Service, due to take place in Toll Gavel Church this Sunday, has had to be cancelled.

A 17-year-old boy has now been charged with criminal damage to a police car in Beverley. As we reported yesterday, the car’s windscreen was damaged while officers were responding to a separate incident. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been bailed with conditions not to go to Beverley and to be at his home address by a certain time each evening.

And finally, a newly-formed local orchestra, the East Riding Concert Orchestra, will be in concert at St Mary’s Church, Beverley, this Saturday, Described as “ a night of spectacular classics”, the concert starts at 7.30pm.
