HEALTH bosses in the East Riding expect the autumn booster vaccination programme to be extended to cope with rising Covid cases. Infection rates have been increasing due to new Omicron variants. Zoe Stevens, Public Health Nurse Consultant at East Riding Council, said: “I think it would be a good idea. We’re still awaiting guidance as to whether or not that decision has been made, but I think it’s likely that we will be looking at a booster programme in the Autumn.”

She continued: “We know that if we increase people’s immunity by giving them another dose of the vaccine, that protects them for longer again. So if we did vaccinate people again in the Autumn, that would see them through the Winter months.”

EAST RIDING Council wants to find out more about residents’ attitudes and perceptions towards physical activity and active leisure. In launching a survey, the council says it’s a chance for residents to say what they think about the services and facilities which the council provides.

Cllr Mike Medini, portfolio holder for cultural and leisure assets, told Beverley FM: “I hope that lots of East Riding residents will feel able to complete this survey, which will be really helpful to us as we shape the future of leisure facilities of many different kinds across the area.” The survey can be completed here: https://tinyurl.com/EastRidingCommunitySurvey

THE East Riding Festival of Words is back for 2022, and this year it will start earlier than usual with the Children’s Festival, which will feature 21 events at various East Riding Libraries between July 30 and August 9.
