BEVERLEY Building Society’s first-ever Charity Golf Day raised more than £3,000 for its charity of the year, the Beverley Cherry Tree Community Centre. In total, 22 teams of four people took part in the event at Hessle Golf Club.

The final total raised was £3,069.80 to help the Cherry Tree Centre’s work. It offers a wide range of services, from free advice on issues including money, housing and employment, food bank services, a community shop, youth club and even a pre-school nursery for children to learn in a fun environment.

TEAMS taking part in this year’s Humberside Police Lifestyle competition are reminded that today is the last day to complete work on projects. However, the deadline for completing and returning project booklets for judging is not until September 28. Prizes for winning teams this year include holidays to London and Wales, day trips to Go Ape and Flamingo Land, track days and much more.

Groups taking part this year have been involved in lots of creative and innovative projects, from cleaning up local parks and community areas, to hosting bake sales, car boots and raising funds for local food banks.

A POPULAR Life Drawing Course is set to go ahead for a six week period at Beverley Treasure House, tutored by artist Esther Cawley, who will take participants through a variety of figure-drawing approaches, including working with a life model. The course runs weekly for six weeks from October 8; with booking opening today. More details here
