One of East Yorkshire’s landmark pubs, the Ferguson Fawsitt at Walkington, has reopened this week after being closed since October 2020. Then, the shutters were put up with general manager Mike James citing losses in the face of the covid pandemic.

Almost a year later the Fergie was sold to an investment company, who began marketing the lease, and this week saw a “soft opening” for friends and invited guests of Allen Singer, who has reopened the pub after previously running The Tiger Inn in Beverley. “I’m so excited to open the doors, this is a great location. Walkington is a vibrant place, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to come and enjoy the relaxing setting,” Mr Singer said.

A community grant from Beverley Town Council is helping fund a unique audio adventure trail through Beverley’s past in conjunction with the East Riding Theatre. By downloading the free Time Travellers Theatre Trail app, users can stop off at 12 historic sites in the town, where listeners are immersed in a thrilling audio drama bringing alive stories that took place at each location.

And finally, as previously reported by Beverley FM, Bishop Burton College throws open its doors for its Spring Live event tomorrow, which builds on the hugely-popular Lambing Sunday events of previous years. It runs from 10.30am to 3pm; admission is by ticket, which can be purchased on the day, with a free park and ride bus service operating from the School Lane car park in Beverley, adjacent to the fire station
