Hull City recorded back-to-back away victories as they defeated Rotherham United 4-2 at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Finishes from Jacob Greaves, Cyrus Christie, Ryan Longman and Ozan Tufan secured all three points for the Tigers in the EFL Championship.

Interim Head Coach Andy Dawson named an unchanged starting XI to the one that secured a 3-1 victory over Blackpool in midweek. The only change came on the bench as Lewie Coyle replaced Under-21s’ forward Will Jarvis.

Looking to score in back-to-back games, Greg Docherty had the first opportunity of the game as he looked to place his first-time effort into the far corner, but the shot went narrowly wide past the post.

The Scottish midfielder took aim once again at the end of a quick Tigers’ counter-attack, as Greaves played through Docherty, but his low drive was pushed behind by goalkeeper Viktor Johansson. From the resulting corner by Jean Michaël Seri, Dimitrios Pelkas fired his first-time attempt from the edge of the penalty area over the bar.

At the other end, Ben Wiles blazed over his shot while both Longman and Pelkas tested Johansson in the Rotherham goal. On the 24th minute, Nathan Baxter produced a stunning save to push Wiles’ powerful volley over the crossbar, after good initial build-up play between Tom Eaves and Conor Washington.

Christie was the next player to have an attempt, but his curling shot was held comfortably by Johansson, while Washington headed wide from Wes Harding’s cross.

Hull City took the lead on the 44th minute as Seri’s corner wasn’t fully cleared by Rotherham, and Greaves was on hand to place the ball into the bottom corner from close range.

However, the visitors equalised on the stroke of half-time as Daniel Barlaser cut inside from the left wing before curling his right-footed shot off the inside of the post and into the back of the net.
