North Ferriby Fc bounced back from last week’s defeat with a 3-0 home win over Penistone Church.

Goals from Tom Corner, Jamie Forrester, and Josh Whiteley brought the Villagers back to winning ways.

Chris Bolder welcomed back centre back partners Niall Tilsley and Oli Donald. Lewis Exall returned in goal for Lewis Hill. Danny Buttle replaced Joel Shortland in the starting line-up. Tom Corner also made his return to the starting eleven. Bolder continues to reward the development side with Anotinio Ezeagba retaining his place in the squad and Josh Baldwin joining him on the substitute bench for the game.

The Villagers took the lead through Tom Corner, a quick throw-in taken on the right-hand side caught the visitors napping. Danny Earl, the recipient of the throw, advanced forward with the ball, having plenty of space to do so. Earl progressed to the area before pulling the ball back across the goal, finding Corner who flicked the ball into the goal.

The second goal came courtesy of Jamie Forrester. The Villagers were awarded a free kick just outside the area after a Penistone Church defender was adjudged to have handled the ball. Up stepped Forrester, who placed his free kick perfectly into the corner of the goal.

The Villagers came out in the second half determined not to see their lead slip. The in-form Josh Whiteley made sure his side took all three points when he added a third. The Villagers attempted a short corner routine, it looked promising at first, but Penistone originally dealt with the threat, however, the visitors couldn’t cancel the threat fully. Danny Buttle intercepted the ball and drove forward with the ball. He found Josh Whiteley in the area, Whiteley took one touch and then calmly finished low into the corner for his fifth goal in three games.

North Ferriby boss Chris Bolder summed up his thoughts after the game, “It was a great result, we said after last week’s game that we found ourselves in a position of 2-0 up and then second half, our defensive levels weren’t to what we expect. Today, we find ourselves 2-0 up at half time, we had a great chat about what we need to do at half time and then we get a third goal which put the game beyond”.

North Ferriby: Exall, Tarbotton, Donald, Tilsley, Start, Earl, Kirk, Forrester, Buttle (Dickens), Whiteley (Mycoe), Corner (Ezeagba)
Subs not used: Hill, Baldwin
