North Ferriby overcame Albion Sports 2-0 at the Dransfield Stadium. Goals from Tom Corner and Oli Donald ensured the Villagers maintained their eleven-point lead at the top of the table.

Chris Bolder gave a debut to new signing Amir Berchil. The attacking midfielder joined the club during the week from Thackley. Josh Morrall also started at left back, in what was his first start for the club.

Danny Earl had the game’s first opportunity; he received a ball over the defence from Danny East, but his shot was deflected over.

New signing Amir Berchil was the recipient of a few niggles from the side he spent time on loan at last season. Berchil went close to opening his account for the Villagers, however, his shot went just wide.

The Villagers controlled the ball in the first half but just couldn’t find the breakthrough.

Danny East tried a volley which went flying over the bar and didn’t trouble the Albion goalkeeper.

The Albion goalkeeper was called into action, as he produced a good save to deny Danny East, who met the ball from a brilliant Danny Emerton free kick.

The Villagers thought they had taken the lead. A corner came into the area and found Oli Donald, the Ferriby defender jumped and poked the ball goalbound. It hit the Albion defender on the line and looked to go in. After a short stoppage, the referee then decided the ball hit the side netting.

However, Ferriby would soon get their lead. From a corner substitute, Tom Corner rose higher than the Albion defence and headed the ball into the back of the net.

The Villagers would wrap up the three points in stoppage time. Danny Buttle sent in a great ball from a corner, Oli Donald ran to meet the ball and placed a powerful header past the Albion keeper.

North Ferriby FC manager Chris Bolder shared his thoughts after the game, “they came to disrupt us, a few gritty fouls from them and it disrupted our flow a little bit. I thought the lads responded to this exceptionally well. We need to build on clean sheets. We know we have good attacking prowess and dangerous from set plays, so for us getting that clean sheet was important”.

North Ferriby: Exall, Tarbotton, Donald, Tilsley, Morrall, Kirk, East, Emerton (Buttle), Berchil, Earl, Whiteley (Corner).
Subs not used: Douglas, Jurkstis, Dennett
