A MAJOR road route in and out of Beverley has been named as the worst for drivers ignoring speed limits. According to Safer Roads Humber more than 4,000 drivers every day ignore the 40mph speed limit on the dual carriageway stretch of the A164 between the Waitrose roundabout and Castle Hill.

Safer Roads Humber has released statistics collected by its speed cameras between 2019 and 2021 and say they show that, on average, 4,320 drivers each day fail to stick to the 40mph speed limit, which represents almost half of all motorists.

The average speed has been clocked at 45.6mph. The data, covering all the roads in the area, also showed there were 1,850 speed violations on average every day on Victoria Road in Beverley, which equated to 63.3 per cent of traffic being over the speed limit.

LIBRARIES in the East Riding, including Beverley Library, are to host events this autumn with arts organisation ArtERY Live. Events include an interactive family performance ideal for children aged three plus by the Hawk Dance Theatre in Beverley on the afternoon of October 24. Full details of all the events here

TEAMS taking part in this year’s Humberside Police Lifestyle Challenge have until this Wednesday to get their log books in for judging. Judging will take place in November and the top senior and junior teams will win a trip to London. A number of other prizes will also be awarded, including an adventure holiday to Wales.
