PLANNING officers are recommending proposals to construct four clamps to store 29,000 tonnes of maize, grass and rye alongside a vegetable processing plant in Woodmansey be given the go-ahead, subject to an inspection of the site by East Riding councillors ahead of their meeting on Thursday. Waste product after processing would be used in the company’s existing anaerobic digestion plant.

Woodmansey Farming Company Ltd submitted the plans for a field on Plaxton Bridge Road and say the vegetable matter would be used in its 4U Fresh Produce processing factory. Currently, crops are brought in from storage sites by lorry and it’s said the new facility will be more efficient and lead to less lorry movements.

Woodmansey Parish Council had expressed concerns over the proposals and the council received 17 objections from nearby residents worried about air pollution and bad smells, increased noise and road safety issues.

THE BRICK CITY Lego exhibition at Beverley Treasure House is proving a hit with families and this Saturday, August 20, more drop-in sessions are planned for participants to build a “Lego Landmark” with their family or friends, using the Lego provided. The free sessions will take place from 10am -12 noon, and from 1pm -3pm. And mini tours of the exhibition will run on the hour, every hour of each session. More details here
