Ten students from Bishop Burton College set off for Australia this week for a two-week work experience placement within the sports industry alongside a wide variety of different cultural and sporting activities. It’s part of the college’s successful bid to fund 45 work experience placements around the world as part of a Government scheme to offer students life-changing experiences in study or work abroad.

The ten, described as amongst the college’s elite sports students travel to Sydney on Friday. Their work placements vary from sports coaching, education and sports analysis with industry specialists. Matt Lucid, the college’s curriculum area manager for sport, told Beverley FM: “This is undoubtedly a once in a lifetime opportunity for each one of our highly deserving and committed students.”

Studies at East Riding household waste recycling sites show that almost a third of the contents put into general waste skips could have been recycled. Now, a trial bag sorting system is underway in Driffield which, if successful, could be introduced all waste recycling sites across the East Riding.

As part of the trial, a sorting table is provided, with gloves, a litter picker, paper towels and anti-bacterial handwash, and residents with bags or boxes of waste are being encouraged to visit so they can sort through their own waste.

And finally, police have issued e-fit pictures of a man they wish to speak to following repeated instances of indecent exposure on Beverley Westwood.
