BEVERLEY Race Company reacted quickly to extreme heat warnings issued by the Met Office and cancelled tonight’s race meeting, due to take place on The Westwood. Six races had been scheduled to run from 6.20pm through to 8.50pm. In a statement the racecourse said the decision followed consultation with the British Horseracing Authority. “We have abandoned racing for the safety of all concerned. North Ferriby FC played out a toughly contested game against Grimsby Borough and came away with a 2-2 draw. Chris Bolder's side took a 2-0 lead over the NPL division side, but a Grimsby Borough fight back denied the Villagers their first victory of preseason. The game's opening goal came from Tom Corner.
