North Ferriby Fc fell to a 2-0 defeat at Albion Sports. Two second-half goals from the hosts the difference between the two sides.

Chris Bolder made one change from Saturday’s win at Winterton, Robbie Start coming in for Oli Donald. Liam Nelthorpe returned to the bench.

The Villagers had the ball in the net, but a foul on the goalkeeper ruled the goal out. Tom Corner went close as raced onto a Lewis Hill ball over the top. Corner beat the defence to the ball and tried to lob the goalkeeper. A deflection on its way towards the goal resulted in a Villagers corner.

Captain Niall Tilsley went close, but his header went over the bar. The hosts went close as Robbie Fox curled an effort towards goal which whistled past the post.

The Villagers went close at the start of the second half. Danny Earl went on a mazy run before crossing the ball low across the goal. Danny Buttle went close at the back post following up Earl’s cross.

The Villagers conceded a penalty after a long ball wasn’t dealt with and the Albion winger cut inside the area after beating Robbie Start to the ball. Lewis Hill tried to gather the ball low but brought the Albion attacker down. The Villagers received a temporary reprieve as the penalty crashed off the post.

The hosts would take the lead when the Villagers came under more pressure from the hosts. The ball found its way to Dominic Staunton who fired home an effort from range.

The Villagers went in search of an equaliser, a corner gave them the perfect opportunity, Danny Earl rose highest, but a brilliant save from Albion goalkeeper George McMahon denied the Ferriby attacker.

Hass Gorji would wrap the game up for the hosts in the 83rd minute. Ferriby didn’t deal the attack and Gorji’s shot beat Hill and nestled in the bottom corner.

North Ferriby assistant manager Paul Robson summed up his thoughts after the game, “it’s another game that we’ve been below par. We started ok in the game, we’ve put 15 crosses in the box by half time and we’ve not connected on them, it’s disappointing tonight as it’s a big opportunity for us to go six points clear at the top, but we’ve let ourselves down tonight”.

North Ferriby: Hill, Dennett, Tilsley, Smaller, Start (Nelthorpe) Forrester (Heeley) Kirk, Earl, Emerton, Buttle (Ezeagba) Corner.
Subs not used: Exall, Jurkstis
