Volunteers turned out in force at the weekend to carry out improvements at Beverley Town Football Club’s Norwood ground ahead of an inspection by the Northern Counties East League that could see the club move up to a higher standard.

Town, who are currently top of the Humber Premier League, recently announced they’d achieved their funding target of £30,000 to pay for a major upgrading, including floodlights, at Norwood. At the weekend, a new perimeter path was laid on all four sides of the pitch with work continuing on the standing terrace. And a new pay booth arrives this Thursday.

East Riding residents are being urged to have their say on proposed parliamentary boundary changes, including to the Beverley and Holderness constituency. The proposals would see the seat currently held by Graham Stuart rechristened Beverley and the Wolds and cover an area west of the proposed new Bridlington and Holderness seat all the way to the North Yorkshire border.

The Boundary Commission’s public consultation is open until April 4. More information: https://boundarycommissionforengland.independent.gov.uk/

And finally, the resignation of Cllr Linda Lawson means there is a vacancy on Brandesburton Parish Council. Residents have until March 21 to request a by-election; otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.
