East Riding of Yorkshire Council is once again providing free weekend parking for Christmas shoppers. As part of its efforts to support town centre businesses, the council has offered free parking in the run-up to Christmas for the past 16 years - and will do again this December. Blackburn Leisure Bowls Club have officially opened their new club room having been awarded £15,536 from East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of Commuted Sums. The Tobacco and Vapes Bill is back in Parliament today, Tuesday 5 November, being a step closer towards a smokefree future generation. The Bill includes measures to phase-out the sale of tobacco products across the UK to anyone aged 15 or younger. It proposes extending the indoor smoking ban to specific outdoor spaces, with children’s playgrounds, outside schools and hospitals all being considered. East Riding of Yorkshire Council has relaunched the ‘Do It For East Yorkshire Community’ Grant, with a Welcoming Places grant programme, funded by the Household Support Fund. The fund offers grants between £1,500 to £2,500 for voluntary and community groups, as well as town and parish councils.
