A five-mile stretch of the A1079 Beverley bypass will be closed for two nights while the contraflow system is changed.
Closures were originally planned for up to four nights between Monday October 7 and Thursday October 17 but have been pushed back. The A1079 will now shut between 7pm and 5am on Wednesday October 23 and Thursday October 24.
The road is being closed “in order for the workforce to safely move the current contraflow to the opposite carriageway” as part of the Jock’s Lodge Improvement Scheme. The closure area will stretch from Killingwoldgraves Roundabout to Dunswell Roundabout in both directions.
Traffic will be diverted down Hull Road via Woodmansey and the A1035. The A1079 will reopen at 5am on Thursday, October 24 with a new layout.
The A1079 and A164 are two of the busiest roads in East Yorkshire, carrying up to 50,000 vehicles per day between them. Where they meet, at the Jock’s Lodge Junction, is a notorious pinch point for traffic.
Works on Jock’s Lodge include a new roundabout built on the A1079 and connected to Beverley‘s Lincoln Way-Minster Way roundabout. Two new roads travelling north and southbound will connect the new A1079 roundabout with the A164 near Coppleflat Lane, Beverley.
