A BEVERLEY company, founded just 13 years ago, has been named as one of the fastest-growing privately-owned firms in the UK. Vuba, based on the Grovehill Industrial Estate, produce an innovative range of resin surfacing products, used particularly for driveways. 

The organisation FEBE, which stands for For Entrepreneurs By Entrepreneurs, is backed by influential industry figures, including two former BBC dragons, and has just published its first annual list of the 100 fastest-growing privately-owned businesses in the country, placing Vuba at No 23.

Vuba supplies products to the trade and the public across the UK and will export more than £2 million of UK manufactured products overseas in 2022, mostly to the USA. Managing director Sean Scott started the business in his garage selling specialist resin products online after being made redundant during the recession. Sales have quadrupled in two years to £6.3m in 2021. Currently employing 35 people, more expansion is predicted.

A NEW exhibition called “Lost Streams, Pumps & Privies” opens in Beverley Guildhall next Wednesday, exploring the town’s relationship with water through the ages and reveals the courses of Beverley’s lost waterways, including the Walker Beck and the Town Ditch. 

The exhibition also looks at how the people of Beverley obtained their clean water, how they disposed of their sewage, and their battle to drain the land and prevent it from flooding. It runs until October 28. The Guildhall, in Register Square, is open from 10am to 4pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. Admission is free.
