A hat trick from the in-form Josh Whiteley secured a comfortable 3-0 victory for North Ferriby FC over relegation-threatened Clipstone.

North Ferriby, who clinched second place this week, made six changes from Tuesday night’s win over Glasshoughton. In came Lewis Exall, Josh Dennett, Louis Kirk, Harvey Carew, Danny Buttle and Rich Medcalf. Out came Levi Tarbotton, Adam Bolder, Danny East, Danny Emerton, Tom Corner and Jordan Douglas. Dennett came in for the recently departed Levi Tarbotton, who has moved to Australia.

The Villagers made a bright start and created a few half chances but didn’t really test their hosts.

It was the hosts who had the first clear chance of the game. A Clipstone winger got in behind the Ferriby defence but couldn’t keep his composure as he put his effort wide when he really should have hit the target.

The deadlock was broken on the twenty-fifth minute. Good work down the left from both Robbie Start and Danny Buttle, allowed Buttle to cross the ball into the box. Rich Medcalf challenged goalkeeper Charlie Preston and flicked the ball to the back post where Josh Whiteley was in hand to finish.

The Villagers doubled their lead just before halftime. The Villagers were awarded a penalty when Clipstone defender Jamie Royle was penalised for handling the ball. Royle was to walk for his action. Up stepped Josh Whiteley who emphatically hit the ball into the goal sending Preston the wrong way.

Whiteley would wrap up his hat trick with the best of the three goals. Whiteley received the ball on the left-hand side of the pitch. He then went on a mazy run beating a few Clipstone defenders before hitting a shot towards the front post that beat Preston.

The Villagers were content with the three-goal cushion and controlled the rest of the game without really seeing much threat from their hosts.

North Ferriby Fc boss Chris Bolder summed up his thoughts after the game, “It’s a challenging place to come. It’s a job done and a clean sheet and adds to our impressive record when it comes to conceding goals. We made a few changes and it was good to get minutes into certain players today and I’m delighted for Josh to get three goals today”.

Josh Whiteley’s performances of late were next on Chris Bolder’s mind, “Good finishes and it was an outstanding penalty. A good strike for the first goal and for the third goal Josh did want we want him to do and that gets at people”.

The Villagers’ win puts them on an impressive 90 points and leaves their hosts in the relegation zone.
