Local mental health charity Hull and East Yorkshire Mind has announced the relaunch of its “Tea & Talk” campaign for next month’s Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs from May 9th to the 15th. They’re encouraging people to organise bake sales, afternoon teas or whatever they choose in order to raise money and talk about mental health.

Community Fundraiser Marie-Louise Robinson told Beverley FM: “Tea and Talk is a fun way to spend time with friends, family or work colleagues. By taking part, you’ll be raising awareness of mental health, and perhaps also raising some much-needed funds for our charity.” Mind is offering resources including a cake quiz, mini bunting and cake flags.

The Governor of the Bank of England Andrew Bailey is in the East Riding on Friday to talk to business leaders. And the message to him is that rapidly rising costs are proving a major headache. A survey of member companies by the Hull and Humber Chamber confirmed that widely-predicted price rises are on the way with 78 per cent of firms saying they were expecting to have to increase their prices in the next 12 months.

And finally, Bishop Burton College has confirmed its status as one of the strongest college football programmes in the country by reaching the final of the English Colleges Football Association National Cup. They will play South Devon College at the home of Doncaster Rovers later this month.

Several Bishop Burton students are already playing semi-professional football and next Wednesday, April 13, the college is holding a football open day for Year 11 students who might like to join the men’s and women’s Football Academy.
