A plea has gone out for people to give their views about problems with litter from fast food outlets. The waste and recycling team at East Riding Council want people to take part in the consultation to air their views on how the littering of packaging from fast food outlets affects the area. 

Cllr Chris Matthews, the council’s portfolio holder for environment and climate change, told Beverley FM: “We spend around £3.9 million a year cleaning up litter, and many residents feel strongly about this problem, with several volunteer litter picking groups active, including in Beverley. “It’s often difficult to identify the people who dropped it, so we need people to help us try to get on top of the issue.”

Award-winning travel writer Simon Parker, who completed a “Pandemic Tour of Britain” by bike over the past two years, pedalling a total of 3,427 miles, calls into Beverley’s East Riding Theatre on Wednesday for a unique one-man show, when he will be sharing some of the stories from his “Great Adventure” followed by a Q&A with the audience.
