One lane of the road crossing Boothferry Bridge near Goole will be temporarily closed later in September to allow for the replacement of the bridge’s CCTV cameras.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council will use traffic lights to control traffic travelling over the bridge starting on Monday 30 September for up to two weeks, while the length of one lane and one footpath is closed.

The second lane and footpath will remain open.

The closure will only be in place from 9.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday, with the lane and footpath reopening outside those times.

The closure is necessary for the replacement of CCTV cameras on the bridge, with a new system.

The cameras are used to monitor traffic on the bridge.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “Thank you in advance to drivers and pedestrians who’ll be using the bridge while we carry out this work.

“We have tried to keep disruption to a minimum and keep the bridge open as much as we could until these improvements are completed.”
