A Josh Whiteley goal with ten minutes left secured a 2-1 home win over Thackley. The Villagers maintain their five-point lead at the top of the table, having to dig deep to find a winner.

Chris Bolder made three changes from the side that defeated Penistone Church. In came Danny Clarke, Adam Bolder and Josh Dennett.

The Villagers put some early pressure on their visitors, Josh Whiteley was a constant threat and did well early to win a corner. Jamie Forrester capitalised on a defensive mix-up to have a shot at goal, Thackley goalkeeper Luke Wilson could only parry the effort before his defenders cleared the trouble.

It would be the returning Danny Clarke who opened the scoring. An error from Thackley captain Steve Crawford allowed Clarke to be one on one with Wilson. The attacker finished expertly into the bottom corner.

Danny Earl went close on two occasions. First, he couldn’t make crucial contact from a brilliant ball played in by Josh Whiteley. Secondly, Louis Kirk found the Villagers’ top goal scorer, but he saw his shot saved by Wilson.

The visitors would level the scores through their top goal scorer Tom Greaves. The experienced striker was on hand from close range to put the ball past Exall.

Both sides had opportunities to take the three points, but it was the hosts who would take the lead. Great work down the left-hand side from Tom Corner allowed him to drill the ball across the box. The cross found Josh Whiteley, who tapped the ball home.

North Ferriby boss Chris Bolder shared his thoughts after the game, “first half I thought we were exceptional, we created some wonderful opportunities and if we are truthful, the game could have been beyond them, we’ve had four or five amazing chances. We get the one goal but really should have put the game to bed. That being said, we got in front and then, for us, we should keep a clean sheet which has been a little bit of an issue for us this season and we have to address it”.

North Ferriby: Exall, Dennett, Start, Kirk, Tilsley, Tarbotton, Earl (Buttle) Bolder, Forrester (Corner), Clarke, Whiteley (Ezeagba).
Subs not used: Douglas, Dickens
