North Ferriby Fc suffered their first defeat of the season as they were defeated 4-1 at Silsden.

The Villagers went close in the first ten minutes. Joel Shortland’s shot hit the post and then hit a Silsden defender, who didn’t know much about it, as he knocked the ball behind for a corner.

The home side took the lead on the 14th minute. Like Brooksbank received the ball on the left-hand side, the attacker turned and put his effort past Douglas.

The returning Douglas produced a great save from close range to deny Josi Bradshaw.

The Villagers thought they had equalised through Oli Donald. A corner came through the box and Donald didn’t connect with the ball cleanly, Silsden goalkeeper Samuel Kelly gathered the ball as Ferriby players protested that it had gone over the line.

The Villagers began the second half looking for an equaliser. Good play from Danny Earl resulted in Tom Corner receiving the ball, his shot going over the bar without troubling Kelly.

The hosts would double their lead when a ball over the top found Jordan Douglas, the Ferriby stopper passed out but found Brooksbank, he added a second goal to his name as he placed a shot over Douglas.

It would be three not long after. A driving run into the box from Bradshaw saw him felled in the area. The attacker took the shot himself and placed his penalty down the middle and past Douglas.

The hosts would score a fourth goal and Brooksbank would get his hat trick. A ball through the back four found the attacker and he slotted past Douglas.

The Villagers had opportunities to pull a goal back but couldn’t convert a handful of goal-mouth scrambles.

The Villagers scored a consolation at the death, with Danny East rising highest from a corner.

Assistant manager Paul Robson summed up his thoughts after the game, “Nowhere near it, we’ve had two lads show up and play to the normal standards. It’s hard to back the lads after a performance like that.

The first ten-fifteen minutes we carved out some nice chances, but there was no end product. Until we gift them a goal we’re doing ok”.

North Ferriby: Douglas, Dennett, Start, Tilsley, Donald, Kirk, Shortland (Forrester) Emerton (Stephens), East, Earl (Buttle) Corner.
