HUMBERSIDE Police are supporting the national StreetSafe online tool that lets people anonymously pinpoint on a map a location where they don’t feel safe. It’s being introduced as part of a national response to tackling violence against women and girls and to identify areas where there are fears caused by other things such as anti-social behaviour and environmental issues.

Supt Paul French told us: “Anyone who has concerns about a particular location is encouraged to flag it through the tool. It’s very easy to use, with guidance every step of the way. To pinpoint the area of concern, you can place a pin in the online map or enter the location.”

He continued: “No crime needs to have been committed to enable you to indicate where you feel unsafe, and it is important to remember that the StreetSafe tool should not be used to report crimes.”  You can access the online tool here

MORE THAN 30 Beverley artists will welcome the public for this year’s Open Studios event, taking place across two weekends – October 8 and 9 and 15 and 16. It’s a unique opportunity to meet painters, printers, potters, framers, jewellers and photographers, many of whom will be in their own studio/homes. There are also four galleries to visit in the town, each of them exhibiting local artists: Eastgate Gallery on Eastgate, Art and Soul in Flemingate, Gallery at SALT in Lairgate and Gallery 21 in Ladygate.
