COMMUNITY consultations take place this week after plans were revealed to build a major solar farm on land off Long Lane, three-quarters of a mile west of Woodmansey. The project, covering 84 acres at White Hall Farm, would produce enough energy to power 7,500 homes per year and would also include a Battery Energy Storage System, with a capacity of up to 30 MW, to store energy and release it to the grid when needed.

The scheme, by Israel-based Econergy, who have projects in Spain, Italy, Romania and Poland as well as the UK, will be the subject of an online Zoom presentation on Wednesday, between 11am and 12.30pm and an information event at Beverley Memorial Hall on Thursday between 2 and 6pm. The public consultation on the plans is due to run until September 25 and feedback can also be given on-line.
