QPR 3-1 Hull City

Hull City suffered back-to-back away defeats after shipping three first-half goals at Queens Park Rangers.

Stylish long-range strikes from Ilias Chair and Chris Willock, either side of Ethan Laird’s close-range finish, gave Michael Beale’s men a comfortable win, with substitute Tyler Smith pulling one back.

Cyrus Christie was handed his full debut in one of three changes from the thrilling 3-2 victory against Coventry City.

Andy Cannon was rewarded for an industrious display off the bench with a first Championship start since last October, while Ryan Longman also came in.

Jacob Greaves took the captaincy in the absence of Lewie Coyle, Ryan Woods was named among the substitutes and Vaughn Covil missed out through a knee injury.

Dangerman Chair, with five-goal contributions in his previous six outings, pulled an early sighter wide but was far more accurate with a stunning second effort on 10 minutes.

After Alfie Jones was caught in possession, the Moroccan glided forward before curling a glorious 20-yard strike beyond the despairing dive of ex-R Matt Ingram and into the top corner.

Rangers’ rapid start brought them a quick-fire second as Kenneth Paal’s clipped first-time cross was touched home by opposite full-back Ethan Laird from six yards.

The Tigers belatedly came to life midway through the half as Benjamin Tetteh’s driven near-post effort was pushed wide by Seny Dieng.

Estupiñán’s rising left-footed shot, after good interplay between Tetteh and Callum Elder, was tipped over by the Senegal international and Greaves nodded Elder’s corner wide at the far post.

Chair floated in a cross which Laird glanced tamely into Ingram’s arms but the custodian was picking the ball out of his net again five minutes before the break.
