Dealing with scorching temperatures, North Ferriby FC made it two wins from two in the league with an impressive 2-0 victory over Hallam at the Dransfield. Second-half goals from Niall Tilsley and Danny Buttle wrapped up the three points for Chris Bolder’s men.

Bolder gave debuts to two new signings. Henry Hampshaw, who has joined the club on loan from Sheffield United started in goal. T’Nique Fishley, who arrives on dual registration from Tadcaster, came in at centre back. The Villagers also welcomed back Liam Nelthorpe to the match-day squad after a lengthy absence caused by injury.

The first half was a cagey and fast-paced affair with chances few and far between. The Villagers went close early on when a long throw from Josh Dennett found the head of Tom Corner, the attacker’s header went just wide of Myles Wright’s goal.

Jamie Forrester had the only other real chance for the home side but he saw his effort go over the bar.

The first chance of the second half fell to N’Tique Fishley but his header went wide at the back post. It was Ferriby captain, and man of the match, Niall Tilsley who opened the scoring. The skipper outjumped the Hallam defenders from a corner and blasted a header past Wright.

Danny Buttle put the outcome of the game behind doubt when he converted his strike on the stroke of injury time. Great work from Lewis Stephens on the right-hand side saw the attacker in the Hallam box. Stephens spotted an open Buttle and squared the ball for him to slot the ball into the goal.

Hallam would end the game with ten men. Goalkeeper, Myles Wright receiving a red card from the referee for an altercation with some children in the crowd.

The Villagers secured all three points and sit top of the NCEL premier division after two games played.

Assistant manager Paul Robson spoke after the game, “we knew it would be a tough game, Hallam are very strong, but we dug in deep. We always want more in possession but today our shape outside of possession was tremendous today and we frustrated Hallam”.

Robson was asked about the debuts of both Hampshaw and Fishley, “Henry was tremendous in goal, you can’t ask for anything more than a clean sheet on your debut. T’Nique was very solid. I thought his defending was tremendous today”.

North Ferriby: Hampshaw, Dennett, Tilsley, Fishley, Start, Dickens (Shortland), Kirk, Emerton, Forrester (Buttle) Corner (Stephens), East (Nelthorpe).
