The Hull Seahawks have announced the signing of forward Shaun Galloway for the 22/23 season.

The 21 year-old forward joins the Seahawks from NIHL 1 Division side, the Billingham Stars. This is a big move for ‘Shuggy’ as he’s played all of his hockey throughout his career up north in Billingham. Last season was the best yet for Galloway as he played 29 games for the Stars and got 19 points along the way (6 goals and 13 assists) and capped off the season by representing the England U23’s side. The speedy winger has also previously represented England at U19 level scoring the winning goal against national rivals Scotland, as well as having played for the Northern conference side at every year of eligibility, winning the tournament 3 times.

Galloway had this to say upon signing for the Seahawks, “I wanted to join the Seahawks because it’s always been my goal to play at the highest level I can, as well as having played against Matty from when the Pirates were in the same league as my old club Billingham. I’m looking forward to sinking my teeth into a new challenge and playing in front of a packed barn, Hull was always loud at the conference weekend and I can’t wait to play in that atmosphere again. I’m a fast winger, bit of a playmaker and although I’m not the biggest lad about I like to finish my hits. I’ve played in Billingham nearly my whole life so this is a new challenge for me and I can’t wait to get going!”

GM Sport’s Matty Davies commented “Shaun is a product of the trial we hosted in June and was the reason I wanted to host them. When you’re playing, you just don’t get to see these kids that play in lower leagues and you are relying on peoples word on these players.

When I actually got to see Shaun play at the trial he showed me he’s got that work ethic I’m looking for and also that he has the skills to improve as a player in this league. I’m hoping Shaun can bring that youthful energy we need to be a solid team all round this season.

I wanted a well-balanced team with the skilled guys bringing what they bring and the energy guys making us a hard team to play against every night! He’s a committed kid with a sneaky good shot, he’s full of beans and in the hard slog of the season you need these types of players. Really happy to have Shaun on board and it’s his chance to show what he can do at the next level.”
