North Ferriby FC face two games in three days as they continue their pre-season campaign against two Northern Premier Division one sides. First, Chris Bolder’s side host East Yorkshire rivals Bridlington Town on Thursday (14th). The Seasiders beat off relegation under the stewardship of Brett Agnew. This campaign they will be led by former Beverley Town boss Mike Thompson. Secondly, the Villagers will travel to Grimsby Borough to face last season’s NCEL premier division champions. When asked what tests he expects from these games, Bolder said, “we now head into two games in quick succession against teams in the league above. We will be looking to give players longer stints in these games so we will expect more consistent performance throughout the game. However, we will still be utilising the squad and assessing how the team is shaping up as we continue to prepare for the season”.

When asked about he feels the sides preseason has gone thus far, Bolder stated, “preseason has gone well so far, and we have had strong attendance at all sessions. We have obviously had to manage player holidays and other commitments but in the main, it has been all positive. The games have been extremely beneficial too and although we have been defeated on both occasions, the overall objectives have been achieved”.

Bolder was asked about how he will manage his side over the two games, “The squad is looking strong and fit and therefore we will need to manage the minutes so that we don’t pick up any unnecessary injuries, however, it will be a fine balance between getting players up to speed ready for the season start, as well as thinking about player availability for that opening game of the season”.

The Villagers received their fixtures for the season this week. The highlights include a home opener to Emley, a trip to Goole over the festive period (27th December) and a final day trip to fellow NCEL premier new boys Golcar.
