North Ferriby FC ended their 2021-22 regular season with a 5-0 victory over Nostell Miners Welfare. Goals from Josh Whiteley, Danny Emerton, Joel Shortland, Harvey Carew, and Danny Buttle allowed the Villagers to warm up nicely ahead of next weekend’s play-off clash with Rossington Main.

North Ferriby Fc made three changes from last week’s victory over Teversal. In came Joel Shortland, Rich Medcalf and Jamie Forrester.

The first half was not full of many chances. In fact, the game’s first chance resulted in a goal for the Villagers. Josh Whiteley did well to take a couple of Nostell defenders out of the game and find Jamie Forrester. Forrester had a shot that was deflected. The ball fell back at the feet of Whiteley, now in the penalty area. Whiteley controlled the ball and brought it down. The inform striker shot and his effort wasn’t powerful but found its way into the Nostell goal, trickling into the bottom corner.

The second half was much more productive than the first. The Villagers made it 2-0 through Danny Emerton. A brilliant move from Chris Bolder’s side on the break. Lewis Exall collected the ball from an onrushing Nostell attacker. Louis Kirk then received the ball around halfway. He drove forward with the ball and played a good pass to the right and found Danny Emerton who then slotted the ball into the opposite corner.

It would be 3-0 five minutes later. A good corner from substitute Danny Buttle was sent into the Nostell box. Up rose Joel Shortland to power a header into the net.

More good play from the Villagers, who were in complete control, led to a fourth goal. The defence didn’t deal with a ball up from the Villagers, and this allowed Harvey Carew to race onto the ball and fire home a good finish.

The Villagers made it five through Danny Buttle. Josh Dennett made a good run down the right, he then played the ball across the box and found Buttle, who just needed to poke the ball into the goal.

North Ferriby FC boss Chris Bolder summed up the afternoon and gave a preview to next weekend’s play off semi-final against Rossington. “We end the season on 20 clean sheets which is a great achievement. Some of our play today was exceptional and we now go into a tough play-off game next week. We go into that game off the back of 5 goals, a clean sheet, and a good performance. We now need to focus on keeping up the hard work in training. It will be a tough game next week. Rossington won comfortably again today. They play good football and will be hurting from the result they last played us”.
