Hall Road Rangers earned a comprehensive 1-4 win at Parkgate FC on Saturday.

From the off, Rangers dominated the game and put together a number of dangerous attacking moves which put consistent pressure on the Parkgate defence. This resulted in Hall Road taking the lead in the 4th minute as Henry Curtis was on hand to slot the ball home and bag his 1st goal for the club.

Nine minutes later, Curtis was heavily involved in helping Rangers to double their lead when he weaved his way past the Parkgate defence and hit a shot which was saved. The rebound fell to Sam Robinson who put the ball into the back of the net to get his 14th league goal of the season.

In the 31st minute, Chris Spinks almost put Hall Road out of sight but his effort was saved by Parkgate keeper Jordan Greaves.

Greaves was called into action again in the 51st minute when he produced an outstanding save to tip Callum Stone’s long range effort over the bar. Parkgate pulled a goal back in the 56th minute when a cross into the Rangers box found Max Rhodes and he sent a header past keeper Haydn Withill.

Despite this setback, Rangers regained control of the game and looked to score more goals. Harry Griffin had a shot saved by Jordan Greaves in the 67th minute. From the resulting corner taken by Chris Spinks, Sam Robinson met the delivery and got his 2nd goal of the game which takes his tally to 15 league goals so far this campaign.

In the 75th minute, Chris Spinks got himself on the scoresheet and extended Hall Road’s lead even further with a lovely dinked finish which nestled into the back of the Parkgate net.

Rangers joint boss Leon Sewell was very pleased with the response that his players showed in the game.

“Today was all about putting the wrongs of Tuesday night right. Coming here to Parkgate, it’s a privilege to play on a pitch like it is.

We told the boys it was all about putting those wrongs right and enjoying the afternoon and we’ve certainly done that.

The lads have listened to the instructions that were given at two o’clock this afternoon and three out of our front four have scored today. Spinksy, Robbo with two and young Henry have got on the scoresheet.

I think Sam Deacon’s work rate and endeavour up front was 1st class and 2nd to none and he’s caused their back four trouble time and time again. It’d have been nice to get Sam on the scoresheet as well.

Ultimately, I’m really happy. It’s frustrating considering the performance that we put in on Tuesday, but we’ve come here and done a job” he said.
